| before you go to pick up your kitten make sure you have everything you need for it. | ||
| kitten kit consists of;- | ||
| litter tray,scoop and the same litter used by the breeder | ||
| (you can gradually change this later but start off with what the kitten has been used to) | ||
| food dish,make sure this is shallow,kittens cannot eat very well out of deep bowls.stainless steel or ceramic are best.you may want two if you are feeding dry as well as wet food. | ||
| water bowl again make sure it is shallow enough for the kitten to drink out of. | ||
| bed, even if you are going to let the kitten sleep with you it is nice for them to have a haven somewhere away from the hubbub of the house. | ||
| a cardboard box with a woolly sweater will do.just as long as it is in a quiet place where they will not be disturbed.teach children that the kitten is not to be disturbed when it is sleeping,they need their rest.they also love the bed that hang over the radiator.or tunnels.etc. | ||
| scratching post/activity centre | ||
| buy the biggest and most adventurous you can afford they will have endless amusement playing and scratching on these and it saves your furniture | ||
| toys it is not always necessary to spend a fortune on cat toys they will play with corks,cotton reels,scrunched up pieces of paper etc.but they also love the furry mice and the toys that dangle from sticks.but be careful to put away any toys that could be dangerous if you are not around.eg elasticated toys,toys that dangle they can become caught up in them. | ||
| grooming kit even though siamese are shorthaired they should be brushed at least once a week,mine love the zoom groom a rubber brush shaped like a cat.they also need their nails clipped occassionally,ask the breeder or your vet to show you how this is done. | ||
| a carrier this is necessary to collect the kitten in and also to take it to the vets etc.it is not safe to let it roam around the car,they tend to make straight for the well in front of the drivers feet and end up under the pedals!!also if something panics them they could run off.please dont take this chance. | ||
